Highlights of Snow Town
The Snow Town area is known for its deep snow, with thick "snow mushrooms" piling atop roofs and fences — and at night, lantern light makes it especially atmospheric. It is one of the most popular winter snow-viewing destinations around Harbin.
Getting there
- From Harbin it is a long-distance trip — by private car, shared van or coach; winter roads are long and snowy, so allow plenty of time.
- Icy winter roads make self-driving risky; choose a driver experienced on mountain roads.
- Trips usually take 1–2 days, with a large share spent travelling.
What to do
- Classic photo spots such as Snow Rhyme Street and viewing platforms.
- Snow activities: snow tubes, snowmobiles and more (some charge separately).
- Snow scenery under the lights and cosy guesthouse heated kang beds are a very local experience.
Warmth and tips
Snow Town is colder and windier — reinforce warmth and sure-footedness. Peak-season accommodation is tight, so book ahead. Confirm road conditions and shuttles before you go to avoid being stranded.
