Sun Island area highlights
Sun Island lies on the north bank of the Songhua River, on the same side as Ice and Snow World, and is known in winter for its snow sculptures and ice-art displays. Compared with the translucency of ice carving, snow sculpture emphasises form and mass; in good daylight the details are clearest.
How to plan
- Snow sculptures are best by day; plan them separately from the ice park to combine "snow by day, ice lanterns by night".
- The two are close on the same side — see the snow sculptures, then visit Ice and Snow World at dusk for the night view.
- Outdoor time is long — stay warm and hydrated.
Tips
Snow sculptures are weather-dependent and some works may be adjusted or maintained as temperatures change; check what is open before you go. For photos, schedule snow sculptures for the better light of late morning to early afternoon.
